“This piece is inspired by the thunder/rain storms during my mini-retirement in Jamaica in 2019; forty days and forty nights in Jamaica, literally one of the happiest times of my life. (When I was 23, I was like, “You know what, I don’t want to be in the United States anymore, and I’ve always dreamed about retiring to Jamaica when I’m older, so I thought, why not go now?” I used a credit card I had to get the plane tickets, and boom, a couple days later I was in Jamaica, and I had the time of my life, and I learned a lot. I’m grateful I did that.) And so, while making this piece, I remembered Jamaica, the loving vibes there, and the power you could hear in the thunder when it rained and there was a bit of a storm near the water.”
